Mom's Time Out
Created to provide our CTC moms with the opportunity to talk, share, and laugh and learn from one another in a safe, supportive and caring environment. Our moms find great value in speaking with other moms who can comprehend the “ups and downs” of parenting a special needs child. Occasionally we will meet for dinner and special wellness and spa nights are being planned. Usually meets on a monthly basis. Spanish speaking groups also available.
Mom's Yoga Chat
Through a combination of easy yoga postures, relaxation exercises, music and compassionate discussion, participants will learn how to be more connected with themselves. Join us as we learn how to effectively release the imbalances in our lives caused by stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, or hormonal changes. Yoga will run from 7-8 and discussion from 7-9.
Dad’s Group
Created specifically for the CTC dads to meet each other and just share their struggles and learn from each other in a social and relaxed setting. Usually meets once a month and light dinner is typically included.
Family Education Series
We are pleased to present a new series of workshops led by a licensed marriage and family therapist who specializes in families with special needs. The series is broken down into 8 topics, each one designed to lead into the next. All CTC families, current and graduates, and families in the community who have a special needs child are welcome to attend. All sessions are free but registration is required. For details about each of the topics, please click here.
Family Learn and Play Night
Held once a year, family learn and play night provides families with the opportunity to receive information/education and resources regarding a variety of topics. The CTC children and their siblings will participate in a grand fiesta and engage in many activities and games. Pre-registration is required.
Family Fusion
An experience designed for your family to share together in a fun and unique way. Via creative age-appropriate activities such as yoga, adapted games and arts and crafts, we seek to engage the entire family. Family Fusion will enable your family to learn and grow together, while fostering and nurturing relationships. Pre-registration is required.
Respite Nights
Respite Night is a chance for the caregivers of children with special needs to get a break and some much needed time for themselves. Designed for children who attend The CTC, each respite night provides activities, fun as well as structure.
New To The CTC!!
Grandparents Day - December 6th 2011
More and More grandparents are involved in the care giving of the children here at the CTC. Grandparents are an important resource for both parents and children and many provide physical, financial, and emotional support. Because grandparents are an essential part of our families we would love to honor them by inviting them to spend some time with their grandchild/ren. The child and grandparent will participate in an activity together followed by an opportunity for all of the grandparents to get to know one another. A light snack and refreshments will be provided.
Dancing With Our Stars!!
Midland Park's Spring Dance
Friday, May 11th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Social Work Services
In addition to facilitating the monthly support groups and educational seminars, the School Social Worker provides families with community resources such as workshops, meetings and other events in the community that can give the family practical information for day-to-day living. The Social Worker can assist with assessment and referrals to appropriate agencies for entitlements such as Social Security, Medicaid, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and Catastrophic Illness Fund and other community resources that may be helpful.
Short-term counseling is available and referrals for individual, family and group therapy can be given.
